B&B S.Marco is one of the real few left real bb in Venice

B&B S.Marco is one of the real few left real bb in Venice (that mean local resident living in and maximun 3 rooms).  In this case it was my family home since 1975 where i grew up with my brothers (now in Rome and Milano), that i converted in 3 rooms b&b in may 2002 when my parents decided to move to Ravello in Amalfi coast. Then Alice joined me in 2007 and Nina arrived in 2011

Until 2002 i was marketing director in career in Telecom Italia internet division in Milano. At that time i felt to change life and i decided to go back from where i feel to belong and where i spend one of the best childhood. When i started i was one of the first b&b, then Venice became more more mass touristic standardized destination, and many things that had a long history and real tradition became touristic pre-made products, many came with the only aim to speculate on the city, companies invested in real estate and rental apartments as an industry but the profit (instead of love) has the side effect to contribute to the desertification of life a many historical cities in Europe. 

So if you are responsible kind of traveller and you are looking for a place with a soul with people that live&love and resist and try to let Venice still alive, a place still with an authentic flavour and you want to support the local economy and life CHOOSE us, but If you are a tourist selfie addicted not curious and don’t mind about the effect of your moving around the world and just need a place to sleep with a code and impersonal self check, don’t mind fake experience, dont choose us. 

I am still in Venice in the home where i grew up, and thank to you and the income from the 3rooms (real b&b!) we can still live in Venice and resist as resident family, i don’t give up and still i hope my daughter can continue to live here as i did and maybe in a better Venice with an awakening of consiousnees for the importance of a city in our times, as a place where silence and slow life still make sense.

I am doing other jobs from from my knowledge of the city and from my previous experiences (https://www.linkedin.com/in/marcoscurati/) , but is not enough to live in this difficult city, and in the free time i try to be engaged as civic activist in many field, I.e local associations, organizing local party, founded soustainable tourism association and proposed a well know project about tourism management of the city, (to fix a limiting factor for the growing mass of tourists and let the tourism compatible with residents and with the city and its identity and nature (www.flussiturismo.wordpress.com)
